At Brent Bobyck Powerskating our number one thing is to make sure that the kids are having fun! Our focus with our camps is to get each player motivated so they are working hard and reaching their full potential at each ice session.
We demand that each player is focused on the mechanics of skating and retaining all of the coaching and information they are receiving at every ice session. Throughout the camp we will break down the mechanics and keep adding pieces to the skillset and by day 5 we are trying to get that skillset into a game like situation for each player.
If the kids are having fun, working their hardest and taking all of the skating information we can guarantee they will leave our camps with an improvement in their overall skating skill.
Developing a proper stride is important if you want to play at a high level in hockey. At Brent Bobyck Powerskating we teach our players the importance of improving your stride and how to do so properly. When developing your stride you need to focus on 5 major components: Posture, Ankle Bend, Knee Bend, Angle of Stride and Full Extension. We have dedicated camps focused on stride work because of how important mastering this skill is.
Register For Upcoming CampsWith how fast the game of hockey has become, your transitions as a skater are more important than ever before. At Brent Bobyck Powerskating we teach our players how to transition from forward to backward using a mohawk turn. We also go over transitioning from backwards to forwards in the same direction, which requires the player to use their outside leg on an inside edge coming off their c cut to then go forwards. Hockey players are constantly moving from forwards to backwards for defending and opening up to receive the puck and make eye contact with your teammate who is passing you that puck. This is why proper transitions are vital to your success as a skater.
